History

The Hook & Ring game (often called Ring Toss or Tiki Toss) is believed to have nautical roots. It likely originated among sailors who used simple materials like rope and metal rings to create games during long voyages at sea.
Maritime & Caribbean Influence: A popular story links the game to the Caribbean, especially places like the Bimini in the Bahamas. According to this version, sailors or dockworkers would swing a ring attached to a string. The goal was to land it onto a hook mounted on a wall or post. It became a casual pub and dockside challenge. This is why the game is still strongly associated with ,beach bars, coastal towns and relaxed and social environments.
Modern Popularity: In recent years, the game has been rebranded and commercialised—especially in the US—under names like: “Tiki Toss” (popularized by companies like Tiki Toss); “Hook & Ring Game”; “Bimini Ring Game”. It’s now a staple in: Bars and breweries, Backyard games collections, Event and rental setups.
